Drainage Improvement Works at North District – Phase 1 [Contract No. DC/2023/07]
Owing to continuous land development and the impacts of climate change, the flood risks in the North District have increased. Flooding gets more serious particularly under adverse weather. The project is the government Drainage Improvement Works at North District, aims at alleviating the flooding problems at various locations in the North District including Kong Ha and Sha Tau Kok Town, Shek Kiu Tau, Hang Tau, Kai Fong Garden, Kwu Tung Road and Tin Ping Shan Tsuen. The project comprises the construction of village flood protection schemes, drainage channels, box culverts, drains, and other ancillary works.
The works include (a) flood storage scheme at Kong Ha and Sha Tau Kok Town, including a storage tank of about 10,000 cubic metres, a pumping station, about 2,500 metres (m) interception pipelines and flap valves; (b) about 1,100 m drainage upgrading works at Kai Fong Garden, Hang Tau, Shek Kiu Tau and Kwu Tung Road; and (c) about 1,800 m flood walls at Kai Fong Garden, Shek Kiu Tau and Tin Ping Shan Tsuen. The works commenced on 31st August 2023 and are scheduled for completion by 2028.
