The Green Council has been the official Hong Kong and Macau coordinator for the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) Hong Kong since 2008. The ICC is a global event initiated by the Ocean Conservancy since 1986 to engage the community to collect and document the trash from beaches and waterways all around the world.
The ICC is a registered action of the United Nations Ocean Conference to support the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14 - Life Below Water.
Thanks to all participating volunteers, the ICC has become a beacon of hope, leading, and inspiring action in support of our ocean. The cleanup results will be published at the end of each year to educate the community about the marine debris issue in Hong Kong and induce their behaviour change.
